There was an hour
When we could love and laugh …

And after that hour we went like revellers in madness
And the touch of the pavement was a kiss
And the street-corners were embraces,
And the height of cities was our height over people
And the height of stars our height over cities
And the height of heaven our height over stars,
And the height of God's throne would have been our height over heaven,
But for our mirth,
Which shook vertically through heaven
And unashamed.
