I AM feeling my way into the heart of Life,
And the way is long, and the years now left are few;
And the sign-posts point to pain and doubt and strife, —
And dream, and dew.

High to-day is low to-morrow, and dark
Turns shining weather, the while I trudge along;
Crash of elements stuns me, suddenly, hark, —
Sounds a song!

Help me, comrade, even as I help you,
Both of us faring on to the selfsame Fate;
God be with us, ours be the dream and dew, —
