WRITTEN IN " A CHILD'S GARDEN OF VERSES "

WHEN your " Uncle Jim " was younger,
In the days of childish hunger
For the honey of such verses
As this little book rehearses
In such sweet simplicity, —
Just the simple gift that this is
Would have brimmed his heart with blisses
Sweet as Hattie's sweetest kisses,
On her anniversary.
