Sweet Delia blest with every pleasing art
To form the friend and captivate the heart
Decided in a character thy own
To others faults the greatest candour shown
And envys sneer is to thy breast unknown. —
Serenely gay and without boasting wise,
The soul of kindness beaming in thy eyes.
And must this soft assemblage no more bless,
The sight of those who ne're can love thee less,
While friend ship droops and breathes the heartfelt Sigh —
And the big drop sits trembling in each eye —
My heart inur'd to smother every woe —
Gives vent to grief and lets its sorrow flow —
The tear of tenderness now bathes my cheek —
Tho words are vain my feelings to bespeak —
Go then thou lovely all accomplishd friend
May happiness and peace thy life attend —
May pleasure smooth and virtue gaurd thy way,
And in thy path the loves and graces play —
May zephyrs gentle as thy polishd mind —
Breathe in each gale and lull the boistrous wind.
And green hair'd Naids croud to waft thee o'er —
In health and Safety to thy native Shore;
May all thy friends with transport meet thee there
And cherish virtues to our souls so dear.
