Unhappy, and contrite for my heavy sins and for my light yet long delirium, and that I spent the short hours of this fleeting life in vain loves,
To thee, O Lord, that makest soft our hearts, that makest warm the frozen snow, and makest sweet each harsh and heavy load to them that kindle with Thy holy warmth,
I do appeal, and pray Thee stretch Thy hand to draw me from that ocean whence to escape by mine own strength were vain.
For us, O Lord, Thou hast been pleased to die, Thou didst atone for all the human race; then leave me not, sweet Lord, to die.
