When Franklin flew his famous kite
Mid thunderstorms and showers,
His great experiment was made
Without reliance on the aid
Of any foreign powers.

Johnson

When young Abe Lincoln swung his ax
And sent the timber dropping,
Alone he worked with might and main,
And did not call on France and Spain
To help him with his chopping.

Then let us learn this lesson well
From history and science,
And great our country will remain
If we judiciously refrain
From forming an alliance.

And let us loudly praise ourselves
With anthems and orations,
And let our people thank their fate
That we are here to save The State
From foreign complications.
Yes, we are here to save The State
From scheming foreign nations!
