Though heavy clouds in darkness roll,
Faith is the sunshine of the soul,
And soon the bright returning day
Shall chase these dismal scenes away.
— 'Tis thus, when earth its Lord beheld,
A deeper darkness was dispell'd!
Ev'n cold Affliction's sable night
Resign'd its empire at the sight,
And beams resplendent and divine,
Then caus'd immortal Day to shine.
