Ballad

There on the sea sand
Of the salt lagoon
My true love passed me by
Under the moon.

She passed me by so close
I could have touched her hand,
I could have called her name,
There on the sea sand.

Sky blue her robe;
It brushed my cloak of gray.
We said not a word,
With all the words to say.

There we passed groping
Where the water nears.
Her eyes were blind with judgment.
And mine with tears.

There on the sea sand
Of the salt lagoon
My true love passed me by
Under the moon.
