This world's a vale of sin, and all below
Is sorrow, vanity and woe;
All things which here on earth I see
Are full of folly, sin, and misery.

Dearest Saviour, O convey me
To Thy Father's arms.
Let not this vain world betray me
With its fond alarms.

I mount, I fly, I scale the sky,
The world and Satan I defy;
With God and Christ I shall remain,
Never to return again.
