SCENE IV.

ORESTE only .

QUE do I see? Is Hermione? And I just heard?
For flowing blood I have shed?
I am, if I believe in, a traitor, a murderer.
Is Pyrrhus who dies, and I'm finally Orestes?
What, I am choking on my heart the reason that enlightens me:
I regret to assassinate a king that I revere;
I break in one day the rights of sovereigns,
Those ambassadors, and all humans,
Even those altars where my fury besieged;
Become a parricide, assassin, sacrilege!
For whom? For a thankless who I promise,
That even if he dies, never see me,
I married the rage! And when I served,
She asks me and his blood and his life!
She loves it! And I'm a raging monster!
I see forever away from my eyes!
And ungrateful fleeing to let me pay,
All odious names that I took to please him.
