In the Distance I Saw a Banner

a child actress
a bird in the nest:

frightened, she twirls when pressed

the anxious leaves

that maps a pond

and serve a grazing cow

circling for food

entrapped in sex

all gone—how rude


~~


those who fear the fit

confess the perfect

servant’s bit


~~


quiet, well-behaved,

takes refuge in puzzles,

becomes a maze


~~


all are brave

so why do we fear

that voice in the wind we hear?
