Epistle, Address'd to a Friend in London, An
Address'd to a Friend in London.
Note the Complexion of the Times,
I'm launching now some Medley Rhimes;
From Bath just posting up to Town,
But very shortly to come down:
Your Friends are num'rous and polite,
Assist your Bard with utmost Might;
Inclos'd you have my Bill of Fare,
I trust it won't be thought too dear ;
There's Fish and Fowl, and wholesome Flesh,
All good, I hope — I'm sure they're fresh:
Not tainted yet by vulgar Air,
But delicate, and Maiden fair:
Then bustle in a Scribbler's Cause;
By Friendship's ever-binding Laws,
My grateful Heart shall long retain
Your Favours, not bestow'd in vain.
N EWS we have none — good Friend adieu;
Respects at Home — Remember U.
