Hush, an' a-hush, ma bonnie wee laddie,
Daddy's awa, an' awa, tae the war;
Daddy's ne'er seen his yellow-haired laddie,
An' noo he's awa sae far, an' sae far!

Daddy is fechtin' for mammy an' you;
Soon he'll win hame tae his ain wee bit laddie,
An' bonnie blue een will smile intae blue!
