1 John 3 2 July 8

We cannot tell whilst here
what we shall one day be
But when thou shalt again apear
we shall be like to thee.

Thy glory, then shall dart
On us, iradiently
When we shall see thee, as thou art
and be, transform'd therby.

Wee see now in our race
thy glory, somtimes beame
But then we shall see face, to face
and no cloud, intervene

A soull transforming sight
of thee whilst here below
I would desire, that soe I might
into, thy liknese grow.

experience of satens malice July 7

The devill will withstand
Us most, in whats of grand
Importance unto us, therby
Filling us, with perplexety.

Hee slyly, lys in wait
to cacth us, by his bait
Eather before, or at the time
We should, to some, great mercy climb.

Thus weakens he our faith
When cald for, in itt height
Entangling of us, in his net
When we the greatest good, might get.

It may be he hath seen
That our designs have been
To get new strength, to throw him out

90 July 6 73 Loth to Part -

July 6 73 Loth to part

When we doe get, so neer to thee
As glimpses, of thy face to see
Oh how it pains, the hart
to think that time, doth part
And as a skreen
yett stands between.

When thou to us hast so apeer'd
As our affections, ar endeer'd
And drawn up unto thee
tis hard to think, that wee
must down again
to this world, vain.

When from the mount, we do come down
Upon the world, we cant but frown
As on an enemy
And with distainfull eye
we hate soe much

Gods fullnese common bounty, and specyall love, the souls chouse, July 5 73

When we our minds, and thoughts, doe set
Upon thy fullnese infinet.

We ar soon driven to a stand
At that, we cannot comprehand.

Though, from thee all our mercys flow
Thou'st ne're the lese, for to bestow.

When we thy providence doe eye
And see thy liberallity.

We run our selfs, into a maize
att all thy providencyall waies.

Thou spreadst a table, out for all
Both young, & old, both great, and small.

All things, togather, work for good
To them, that doe unfeinedly
Love god, and are redeem'd by bloud
And called from eternity
in'th cecreet purpose of
his rich, free grace, and love.

Oh what a well of water's hear
A well of life, I may stile itt
The spring it is, both pure, and clear
And we att it, may freely sitt
tis full unto the brink
yet only faith can drink.

All things shall work. if all then sin
The worst of evills, worse then hell

July 4 73

A stranger: in a sorry inne
will sooner Lodg, & rest
Then venture, to a forain king
being an unknown guest
His princely, liberality
He dares not trust, unto, or try.

But unto one, he dos know well
att any time, he'l goe
Yett never will he care to dwell
with one, he dos not know
Those that from thee, estranged bee
They cant desire, to live with thee.

Oh let me soe, familiarly

That I into eternity

Oh bring my will soe, fully ore to thine

That I no more may know a will of mine
If mine in competition, with thee stand
Oh tread itt down, and gett the uper hand
And never give, me, my desires but when
They'r suted to thy holy will, and then
Though my desires, they, may not granted be
I know, I shall have, what is best for me
Do thou my will, soe fully bow, & bend
That I may ne're for itt, with thee, contend

severity in love, better than prosperity in anger July 3 73

How often dost thou strik our fingers off
From thosse delights, on which we set much love
Somtimes thou takst them quite away from us
And dost att once our I'dols, kill, and crush
Somtimes, thou dost to us imbitter it
And that way makst us, losser from it sitt
By that time we ar wean'd from them a while
Soon after, somthing else, doth us, beguile
And slyly steall away, from thee our hart
And of our love, itt takes away thy part

to those, who did rebell
But love, and grace, breaks through each let
and o're the banks did swell.

Thy love that rose exceeding high
In sending down, thy son to dye
our depts, for to discharg
And set, our soulls, att liberty
to walk in postures larg

If thou hadst only to the race
of sinfull Adam, shew'd this grace
To Let them still live here

82 An Addition of Wonder -

An addition of wonder.

But why shouldst thou such grace bestow
And bind thy self by promise soe.

That wee may now our right demand
(Though not from meritt) att thy hand.

By promise thou a deptor then
Art now become to sinfull men.

Who were in dept, soe far before
And can soe greatly, on the score.

That ages of eternity
Could nere hav clear'd us thorowly.

If thou hadst only sett us free
From dept t'had been great grace in thee.
